Hong Kong Institute of Value Management Limited (HKIVM)

HKIVM, established in 1995, is a non-profit making organisation dedicated to the promotion of the use of Value Management in Hong Kong. Value Management (VM) as a philosophy, together with its associated tools and techniques, emphasizes the need to consider function and cost in a structured and systematic way, as part of any strategic decision process. Over the past 30 years, the HKIVM has hosted 14 international conferences, conducted a number of value training workshops, and regularly published a newsletter. Its members have conducted hundreds of highly successful VM studies for both public and private construction industry clients.

HKIVM’s Aims

To create an awareness in the community of the benefits to be derived from the application of Value Management in Hong Kong.
To encourage the use of the Value Management process by sponsors.
To establish and maintain standards of Value Management practice in Hong Kong.
To contribute to the dissemination of the knowledge and skills of Value Management.
To establish an identity for the Institute within Hong Kong and overseas.
To encourage research and development of Value Management with particular emphasis on developing new applications of the process.
To encourage and assist in the education of individuals and organisations in Value Management in Hong Kong.
To establish and maintain a Code of Conduct for practitioners of Value Management in Hong Kong.
To attract membership of the Institute to support these objectives

Dear Members and Friends of HKIVM,

 

I am deeply honored to have been elected as the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Value Management (HKIVM). I sincerely thank the Council for their trust and nomination, and I look forward to serving our Institute and advancing the practice of Value Management (VM) in Hong Kong.

 

I would also like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the Organizing Committee of the HKIVM 30th Anniversary International Conference 2025 for their outstanding efforts in delivering a highly successful event this past November. The conference not only showcased global best practices but also reinforced the relevance and importance of VM in shaping sustainable and cost-effective solutions for our city.

 

Building on this success and with the support of our new Council, I encourage all members to be more proactive in promoting the Institute and the application of VM across Hong Kong. Our most important mission ahead is clear: to grow our membership and broaden the reach of VM in both public and private sectors.

 

To achieve this, we have outlined several key initiatives for the coming years, including:

  • Networking and Social Events – fostering connections and knowledge sharing among members.
  • Professional Training – delivering in-house programs and structured VM training modules.
  • Student Engagement – supporting academic presentations and nurturing future VM professionals.
  • Global Collaboration – strengthening ties with VM societies worldwide.
  • Conference Participation – representing HKIVM at major international VM events.

 

Together, let us continue building HKIVM’s role as the leading advocate for Value Management in Hong Kong.  As we move forward, we will also look for meaningful ways to celebrate VM achievements within our community and to learn from international experiences that can inspire our local development. Your active participation and support will be the key to our success.
